CAD:How did you get the name Derty Den?
Derty Den: lol.....I got my name when i was younger. I used to get in trouble for using bad language lmao!!!!
CAD:How do you think Carolina Music compares to the industry big cities (NY, LA, ATL)?
Derty Den: We are developing into a successful market and NY, ATL, and LA are already established. We are actually coming heavy as a State where those are heavily populated cities.
CAD:What do you think you bring to the game that separates you from the clichés?
Derty Den: My versatility, creativity and ambition. No one seems hungry or seems as if they are having fun anymore so that’s what I’m coming with and on top of that I’m the new best rapper...lol
CAD:CONGRATULATIONS on winning the NCUMA for "Best Lyricist". What does the award mean to you?
Derty Den: It means some one is paying attention i am very grateful for this award and it lets me know how people really feel about my music. Too have longevity In this, you have to bring something besides a story.
CAD:From features on Mtv.com to a spot on the Jadakiss Album Release Tour, you seem to stay busy. What is your advice for young artists trying to get in the game?
Derty Den: Go hard and don’t take no for an answer if u can see it, it can be done. But be loyal to your team and with yourself.
CAD:Do you think hip hop is dead? (explain)
Derty Den: Not at all. Hip-hop is a way of life, something you live from your slang to the clothes you wear and for someone to say hip-hop is dead is crazy. I never understood that statement.
CAD:How did you link up with Gorilla Zoe for the single, Fly Shit??
Derty Den: Networking, shout out to my man Kevin he knew Block. Block said let’s make it happen, so I went to Atlanta laid it down and it was a rap shout out to my producer Manifest who laid the track!!
CAD:What is a normal day like for Derty Den?
Derty Den: Up early in the morning reading emails, sending emails, phone calls, checkin my schedules for appointments, talking to my management, handling whatever press, drops for djs,handling day to day operations at GDA music (my label) and most of that is before lunch...lol
CAD:What projects are you currently working on?
Derty Den: My new project is on the way 80 percent done guaranteed to be a classic!!!!
